Who Was In The Room

Tammi Kidd - Hit Songwriter

Tammi has spent years in the trenches of Nashville’s songwriting community, turning real life into songs that cut through for artists like LeAnn Rimes, Lainey Wilson, Rascal Flatts, Scotty McCreery, and more. She also founded Magnolia Sky Music Group, developing and signing writers and artists through joint ventures. She knows what it takes to build a career on her own terms.

John Ozier - EVP of Creative, Reservoir Music

John helped build Reservoir’s Nashville office from the ground up, signing writers responsible for 10+ Hot 100 tracks, 20+ Billboard 200 albums, and 14 #1s across all Billboard charts in the past 18 months alone. Named a Billboard Country Power Player in 2025, he’s also a hit songwriter himself — penning Lee Brice’s 5x Platinum “Hard To Love” and Tyler Farr’s Platinum “Whiskey In My Water.” Multiple BMI Awards, NSAI recognition, and multi-platinum awards from the NMPA and RIAA. He’s been the writer in the room — and the publisher across the table.

Randall Foster - Moderator · Chief Creative Officer, Symphonic Distribution

A 20+ year music industry veteran with deep expertise across publishing, sync, distribution, and A&R. Adjunct Professor at Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, Billboard Power Player, and Nashville Chapter Chair of A2IM. He’ll guide the conversation — and make sure nothing worth hearing gets left unsaid.

The conversation most songwriters never get to hear.

Music is a team sport. But nobody hands you the playbook. Green Room Sessions is where we change that.

Inside Ocean Way Nashville Studio, we’re sitting down a hit songwriter and one of Nashville’s top publishing executives for an unfiltered conversation about how this industry actually works — from both sides of the table.

HERE’S WHAT WE GOT INTO

  • What a publisher actually does for you — day in, day out

  • What they’re really looking for when they sign a writer

  • What makes them pass — and why most writers never find out

  • How publishing deals shape your income and your creative freedom

  • The mistakes most songwriters make before they ever sit down at the table
