James Marsh
James Marsh, Director of Radio Accounts at Warner Records Nashville, is a seasoned industry professional with a rich background spanning more than a half dozen renowned record labels.
Marsh grew up in Dallas, TX and began his career a week after graduating from Hillcrest High School at WFAA-TV, Dallas-Fort Worth’s ABC affiliate, where he immersed himself in the dynamic world of journalism at one of America's most successful local news stations. Under the mentorship of legendary news director Marty Haag, Marsh honed his skills in promotion. He helped cover major news stories and contributed to program launches, including the perennial Good Morning Texas. Meanwhile, he earned his stripes as a deejay in clubs and for radio stations across Dallas. In the span of 14 years, he tackled country, oldies, pop, rhythm, and alternative rock, working with legends including Wolfman Jack, Sonny Fox, Tom Joyner, and Russ Parr.
The son of a jazz musician, Marsh transitioned into music full-time as an artist development representative at Universal Music Group in 2000. A consummate people-person, Marsh quickly found his groove in the industry. The following year, he became a promotions manager at Island Def Jam, where he remained until 2006, before joining Atlantic Records. He then spent four years as a National Director at Elektra Roadrunner and Fuel By Ramen before returning to regional positions at Warner Records, and in 2014, made the big jump to Country Music, starting with Big Machine Label Group (Dot Records)
Today, Marsh remains deeply committed to championing the artists he represents and contributing to the success of Warner Records Nashville. In his current role, Marsh works on securing airplay and curating marketing opportunities for both up-and-coming country artists and arena-headlining superstars. A sought-after industry speaker, he shares his unique insights into the music landscape through various platforms and publications. He has been named three times to Billboard’s Country Power Players list, an exclusive catalogue of the genre’s game-changing executives.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Marsh, alongside his wife Melissa and their two daughters, is actively involved in community causes and activities, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of Nashville life.
